Weight Loss and Hypnosis
You have simply tried every diet and exercise regime on the planet; still it seems as though you’ll never lose those last few pounds. It even seems that you’re packing some of the lost weight back on. Don’t lose heart. There are measures you can take that are not harmful or even surgical to get rid of that weight.
Everyone that has ever tried to lose weight has struggled to watch every calorie, rid their pantry of this or that and discipline themselves to not touch sugars in any form. This seems to bring about feelings of loss and frustration for most. You seem to struggle with the hardships of denial, or the time to follow a strict diet and exercise routine. It may be time to think of weight loss with hypnosis.
We all fully understand exercise more and following a healthy diet will bring about weight loss. Sounds too simple and it really is for the majority of people actually trying to lose weight. There are also the dangers that are associated with crash diets, weight loss surgeries and the thousands of diet formulas on the market.
It is true there are healthier alternatives every day. One of the healthier alternatives that some doctors are encouraging for patients is the use of hypnosis for weight loss. If done properly, hypnosis can rid some people of certain "bad for you health habits." Some of the things they believe hypnosis will cure are excessive eating, smoking habits and even drug addiction and alcoholism. Because hypnosis focuses your mind on concentrating, you can suggest different habits for your mind. Relaxation and focusing causes these suggestions to become reprogrammed and improve your subconscious control over certain habits.
Hypnosis also opens up your mind to discovery of the emotional factors that cause the habits you want to break. If you know and realize why you have latched on to the bad behaviors you can channel them into less destructive patterns. Hypnosis is a drug-free alternative and an option for weight-loss. This is great news with a large percentage of Americans’s being considered overweight.
If you are worried about the effects of hypnosis you should realize that a hypnotic trance is only much like daydreaming. Your mind won’t accept any dangerous behaviors or drastically change any of your values. You won’t be under the total, or even partial control of the hypnotist or ever be forced to do anything you don’t want to do.
Hypnosis has only recently come into play as a method for weight loss. It is much older though, having been in use as long ago as 1770. It was heavily in use by Franz Mesmer at that time. Hypnosis is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping where by a person is in a highly suggestive stage. Because of Mesmer it is known as a mesmeric trance. Besides weight loss, hypnosis can also provide control for other types of pain. Later on it was named as hypnotism by a Scottish surgeon, James Braid in 1843. The AMA, (American Medical Association), confirmed in 1958 that hypnosis had a clinical value.
Using a qualified professional in hypnosis has shown that the results have been successful for longer lengths of time for patients than for those that seek to follow non-hypnosis treatments. There are of course no studies to prove that hypnosis as a weight loss program is more effective than other programs. The small studies conducted were closely related in weight loss amounts with other programs without the benefit of hypnosis. It could be determined however that hypnosis is more effective long-term because it raises awareness in the patients to consider certain behavioral patterns. It could reinforce their weight reduction goals for longer times because of the pattern changes.
So, how does hypnosis actually work with weight loss? Hypnosis gives a person curb-craving motivation. It will reduce food cravings by curbing your eating impulses. It is true that most people eat and snack without thinking. Hypnosis revs up the thinking process that controls habitual actions.
You of course do not want to make the mistake of thinking that hypnosis is a magical or supernatural cure-all for weight loss or any other habits you suffer from. Hypnosis will not reprogram any person’s mind. Hypnosis is merely a deep-relaxation technique that suggests deeper concentration in certain areas of your life. It is highly unlikely that a patient of hypnosis is totally induced into a hypnotic state for it to become a working application. Most scientists ignore weight loss through hypnosis because of the lack of studies and long-term use. You must understand though that hypnosis can work but you have to give it a long-term commitment. Most people aren’t willing to follow through and don’t combine the hypnosis with any other weight loss treatments.
Of course hypnosis does appear to be an effective weight loss program, but not all on its own. For hypnosis to truly work it must be integrated with another weight loss program such as a sensible diet and exercise routine. Hypnosis can effectively work for some individuals more readily than for others. It works by changing your behavior to alter your thinking patterns about your eating patterns. This could also be true if the suggestion is made to think differently about any weight loss program you use with hypnosis, such as exercise.
For hypnosis to work with your weight loss program you have to have the experience made for your specific needs. Only a professional hypnotherapist should perform and administer weight loss hypnosis. There are limitations to what hypnosis for weight loss can achieve. It has been proven highly effective for moderate or low amounts of shedding excess pounds. Hypnosis takes considerable effort on the part of the patient, as well as the fact they need to understand it is a time intensive program. You won’t lose weight overnight or even in a few days with hypnosis. It is not a quick or easy plan.
Hypnosis works by heightening sensitivity to certain behaviors and relaxing behaviors toward others. Weight loss hypnosis, if done properly and followed will help your thinking patterns change. Sensible eating becomes a way of life through gradual change.
